Freedom of the Press and Alternative News sources

Reporters Without Borders

Pambazuka

Grist

Let's face it: reading environmental journalism too often feels like eating your vegetables. Boiled. With no butter. Grist: it's gloom and doom with a sense of humor. So laugh now — or the planet gets it.

Gapminder

This website, powered by Trendalyzer, enables you to explore the changing world from your own computer. Moving graphics show how the development of all countries is changing by the indicators you choose.

The Budget Graph

Harrowing. "Death and Taxes" is a large representational graph of the US federal discretionary budget. It contains over 400 programs and departments and almost every program that receives over 200 million dollars annually. All of the item circles are proportional in size to their spending totals and the percentage change from 2007 is included to spot trends and disproportion.
